Herein is contained the complete, unedited and unabridged original version of 'The Fall of the Nervii.' The story follows one of the campaigns of Gaius Julius Caesar in Gaul, where he led his legions to put down a rebellion of Celtic tribes in the north.
The actual story is a blend of fantasy/historical fiction in it's composition. The overall events of Caesar's invasion and the destruction of the Nervii are matters of historical record, and can be read about in most histories of the Roman Republic prior to Empire, as well as in The Gallic Wars, Caesar's personal writings about his campaigns. The characters, and more or less everything else that occurs, however, are mine and mine alone.
Currently this story stands by itself as a finished work. It was written as a composition project for english in high school, and as such was, of course, self contained. However, for several years I've been feeling quite unhappy about a great deal of the story, and feel that I could do a far better job with the additional experience in writing I've had, and without the limitations that were, by necessity, imposed on the project when I composed it originally. As such, I've begun a complete rewrite of the text, which will be done as I have time, etc, etc. For more information, click on the links in the snapshot box to the right.
Regardless, if you feel like a fun, interesting read, click on the links above to begin the story. The tale progresses from right to left across the nav bar, but next/previous links are included down the bottom of the pages for the lazily inclined as well. ~_^
If you have any feedback you'd like to give on the original Fall of the Nervii, please feel free to contact me about it (details will be available later) and let me know your thoughts, peeves and likes.
Enjoy!
